Job summary

Gemini is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering (Product) for the Tooling team in New York. Lead engineers across backend, web, and mobile; shape roadmaps, ensure scalable cloud systems, and grow careers.

You'll drive architecture, CI/CD, AI tooling adoption, and collaborate with product managers and business owners to deliver reliable experiences for millions of users. This role requires in-person presence twice weekly in NYC.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development and delivery experience.
• 3+ years in engineering management delivering software for customers.
• Experience with AI coding tools and automation in the dev workflow.
• Full-stack systems with Scala/Java and React Native.
• Strong partnering with product managers and business owners.

Responsibilities

• Create and evolve team structure and organization design.
• Guide system architecture across onboarding, compliance and support workflows.
• Raise engineering practices via code reviews, design reviews, testing, CI/CD.
• Drive team performance and meet deadlines and targets.
• Plan and execute hiring; provide coaching and feedback.
• Foster an inclusive environment and effective communication across teams.
• Adapt plans to fast-moving industry realities and resolve ambiguity.
• Own the team's output and ramp up on industry trends.
