Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an summer internship through its Intern Development Program in Colorado. You will learn about Xcel Energy’s planning process, collect and prepare data for studies, and contribute to planning tools across electrical distribution, transmission, energy supply, and gas networks.

As a current student in an ABET-accredited program, you will work full-time in the summer (up to 40 hours/week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week), with in-person commuting

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher.
• ABET accredited college or university enrollment.
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Economics, or Engineering Physics.
• Able to work full-time during the summer, up to 40 hours a week.
• Able to work part time during the school year, up to 20 hours a week.
• Able to commute to the designated work location in-person under the hybrid work policy.
• Electrical Engineering major preferred.
• Coursework in circuits or introductory power systems preferred.
• Elective coursework in engineering economics or energy policy preferred.
• Curiosity and creativity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates strong analytical skills in data collection and preparation, with a focus on electrical engineering principles and economic analysis.
• Capable of contributing to planning tools and processes across various energy networks while effectively communicating findings through reports.
