Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Engineer for a role based in East London, Eastern Cape. The position supports design, planning, operation, and maintenance of the distribution network, with involvement in load flow analyses, fault studies, and protection scheme development.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory, and CYME.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years in electrical distribution engineering.
• Proficiency with analysis/design software (ETAP, PowerFactory, CYME).
• Familiarity with SA-related standards (NRS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer electrical distribution systems including substations, overhead lines, and underground cables.
• Perform load flow analysis, fault calculations, and stability studies for the distribution network.
• Develop protection and control schemes for distribution assets.
• Oversee planning and execution of network maintenance and upgrade projects.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Investigate and resolve distribution network issues and customer complaints.
• Collaborate with field crews, other engineering disciplines, and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to new technologies and operational strategies.
