Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a leading utility services provider in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will contribute to planning, design and implementation of power distribution networks and substations, ensuring compliance with SA standards.

The role requires a strong background in power systems, with 6+ years' experience and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, PSS/E and ETAP. PE/PrEng registration is preferred, and you will collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in electrical power distribution and substations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, PSS/E, ETAP or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of power system protection principles and HV/MV equipment.
• Knowledge of SA electrical codes and utility standards in Eastern Cape.
• Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; strong communication.
• PE/PrEng or PrTechEng registration preferred.

Aufgaben

• Design electrical systems for power distribution networks including substations.
• Prepare drawings, single-line diagrams and schematics for infrastructure.
• Specify transformers, switchgear, breakers and protection relays.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit studies and protection coordination.
• Ensure designs comply with NRS, SANS and applicable regulations.
• Collaborate with civil/mechanical teams on integrated designs.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and maintenance.
• Review submittals for conformance to design specs.
• Conduct site surveys and contribute to design standards.
