Placements24 urgently seeks an Electrical Systems Design Engineer to conceptualize, design, and implement electrical infrastructure for diverse projects. You will focus on power distribution, lighting, earthing, and integration of renewable energy and smart building systems.

The role requires 4+ years in electrical design, proficiency in CAD/BIM tools, and strong knowledge of codes such as SANS 10142. A Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is highly desirable and beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for buildings and facilities, including power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems.
• Prepare electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD and BIM software.
• Perform load calculations, fault current analysis, and ensure compliance with national electrical codes and standards.
• Design and integrate renewable energy systems (e.g., solar PV) into building electrical infrastructure.
• Specify electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, and lighting fixtures.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
• Conduct site visits for inspection and provide technical support during construction.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for design intent conformity.
• Research and recommend new technologies for electrical system design.
• Contribute to proposals and client presentations.
