Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an internship within the Integrated Plan Delivery team, split between Minnesota and Colorado. The role focuses on economic transmission analysis and contributing to planning processes for electrical distribution, transmission, energy supply, and natural gas networks.

The internship runs with a May 24, 2027 start date. It may extend beyond the initial term based on performance and business needs. Remote work is not indicated; see hybrid policy for in-person requirements.

Qualifications

• Current student, junior or higher.
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Economics, or Engineering Physics.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) or part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commute in-person per hybrid policy.

Responsibilities

• Participate in intern development program
• Learn about Xcel’s planning process
• Collect and prepare data for studies
• Perform studies as appropriate
• Write study and assumptions reports as appropriate
