Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering a paid internship within the Transmission Planning Organization. This internship provides practical work experience and opportunities to present to senior leadership, collaborate with stakeholders, and apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects.

The program runs for a May 24, 2027 start date with possible extension based on performance and business needs. A hybrid schedule allows in-person commuting to the designated work location.

Qualifications

• Current student, Freshman or higher.
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Engineering.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.
• Pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree.
• 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher.
• Power system courses or programs.
• Experience or proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Help develop a carbon free future
• Development of transmission planning models
• Interact with internal stakeholders on transmission planning projects
• Development of critical thinking skills applying to unique transmission problems
