Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Cranberry Township, PA, is seeking a skilled distribution design engineer to lead drafting and design activities for overhead and underground systems up to 34 kV. You will prepare sketches, perform analyses, and support project scoping and client communications in a hybrid office/field environment.

Qualified candidates have 5+ years in distribution design, proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and a strong grasp of design standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Drafting, or a Bachelor's in Engineering Technology, or a high school diploma.
• 3+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years distribution design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize systems without the aid of a computer.
• Knowledge of design techniques and production of technical plans.
• Knowledge of engineering science applications and related equipment.
• Familiarity with codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
• Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34 kV).
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review construction sketches and work packages for distribution facilities (4 kV to 38 kV).
• Produce pole loading analyses.
• Perform voltage drop and flicker calculations.
• Plan cable pulling and bill of material.
• Develop cost estimates and joint use coordination.
• Coordinate traffic control plans and permit drawings.
• Support preliminary project scoping and field work.
• Support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
• Plan system modifications and oversee complex tasks.
• Provide construction support and client communication.
