Job summary

The City of New York Law Department, Litigation Support Division, seeks an attorney to assist in obtaining discovery from other City agencies and to learn the IT systems used to collect electronically stored information.

The attorney will supervise Litigation Support staff, collaborate with Assistant Corporation Counsels, and may be assigned to work on-site at 100 Church Street with possible travel to other agency locations.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA accredited law school; NY bar in good standing.
• Minimum 3 years of litigation and discovery experience.
• Strong organizational, oral communication and writing skills; supervisory experience preferred; ability to interact with Law Department and Agency personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in obtaining discovery from City agencies for the Law Department.
• Supervise Litigation Support staff in conducting paper and electronic discovery.
• Learn IT systems of the Law Department and other agencies to aid in collecting electronically stored information.
• Learn operational functions of other City agencies and their records.
• May be assigned to work on-site at the assigned agency; travel to other locations may be required.
