Job summary

Story Contracting is seeking a Design Coordinator to help coordinate safe, buildable designs for projects from development through AFC. You will gather input from multiple disciplines, monitor deliverables, and resolve interfaces and comments with responsible designers to reduce change and risk.

In this role you will maintain design controls, support IDC/IDR reviews, and help improve decision-making and project certainty for our clients.

Qualifications

• Experience in design management or project delivery in construction, infrastructure, or engineering.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications; identify missing or conflicting information and seek clarification.
• Strong organisational skills to maintain records, track actions, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and collaboration with project teams, consultants, and suppliers.
• Proactive in identifying issues and improving processes for better design outcomes.
• Understanding of health and safety in design and CDM 2015 requirements.
• Comfort using Excel and other digital tools to track information and progress.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities and deliverables with the Design Manager.
• Maintain design deliverable schedules, records, and action trackers; escalate delays.
• Work with external designers, clients, suppliers to identify interfaces and coordinate resolution.
• Coordinate design submissions, track review comments, technical queries, and RFIs through to close-out.
• Organise design coordination meetings and support IDC/IDR reviews.
• Record proposed design changes and highlight impacts on scope, safety, cost and programme.
• Proactively contribute to safer, buildable, and coordinated designs.
