Job summary

OpenAI is seeking Forward Deployed Engineers to lead end-to-end deployments of frontier models in production for strategic customers. You will own discovery, system design, build, and rollout, working with customer engineering and domain teams in San Francisco.

The role emphasizes production adoption, measurable impact, and feedback integration to influence product and model roadmaps. Hybrid work with relocation support and travel up to 50% are available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience that includes customer-facing work.
• Experience scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving environments.
• Production-grade coding in frontend and backend stacks (Python/JavaScript).

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery across multiple deployments from prototype to production.
• Build full-stack systems delivering customer value.
• Embed with customer teams and guide adoption of built solutions.
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers early.
• Make trade-offs between scope, speed and quality to protect delivery.
• Contribute in code when needed to unblock progress.
• Codify patterns into reusable tools and playbooks.
• Share feedback to help product and research improve models.
• Maintain momentum with clear follow-through.
