Job summary

OpenAI is seeking Forward Deployed Software Engineers to embed with government and public sector customers, leading design, delivery, and production deployments of frontier models. You will map problems, scope work, and build full-stack solutions, using Python/JavaScript, across cloud environments, with a focus on reliability, safety, and impact.

Solid experience with LLM deployments and public-sector programs is valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience, ideally in government contexts.
• Active TS/SCI clearance or equivalent.
• Experience delivering complex systems in fast-moving or ambiguous contexts.
• Production-grade full-stack coding experience (Python/JavaScript).
• Familiarity with cloud deployments (Azure/AWS), Kubernetes, Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery across government deployments from prototype to production.
• Embed with public sector customers to design and build applications powered by OpenAI models.
• Deliver observable systems spanning infrastructure to applications across customer environments.
• Prototype and build full-stack systems using Python, JavaScript, or similar stacks.
• Guide customers on maximizing value from their applications.
• Manage relationships with leadership to ensure deployment at scale.
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers to balance speed and quality.
• Contribute in code when momentum requires it, and codify patterns for reuse.
• Share field feedback with Research and Product to influence roadmaps.
• Keep teams moving with clarity, judgment, and follow-through.
