Job summary

Thomson Reuters in McLean, VA, is seeking a Data Engineer to design and operate data pipelines that enable data-driven solutions for TRSS customers. You will integrate structured and unstructured data, work with product and software engineering teams, and help implement client projects with a focus on reliability and performance.

The role requires hands-on experience in data engineering, Cloud (AWS), and modern data tools, with a keen attention to security and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Several years of data engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience leading the implementation and customization of technical solutions, preferably for government clients.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, SQL, others).
• Experience with Restful web services and current data communications technologies.
• Experience connecting to and querying a variety of relational and document-oriented databases.
• Comfortable in GUI and command line environments in Linux and Windows OS.
• Basic understanding of common data structures including flat files, XML, JSON, graph structures etc.
• Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure, including AWS.
• US National Secret security clearance required to start, TS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support data pipelines and workflows to maximize usefulness and efficiency of data sets.
• Provide solution architecture support for business opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal resources and customer tech staff to implement TRSS client solutions and POCs.
• Understand and interpret client requirements to integrate TRSS content into client applications.
• Support and improve internal processes, including automation of robotic processes where possible.
