Job summary

Tapcheck in Plano, TX is seeking a seasoned Controller to own the close, internal controls, and external audit relationships. This hands‑on leadership role covers the general ledger, revenue accounting, AP, tax, and the controls environment as the company scales.

Reporting to the CFO, you will define standards, systems, and people, build a capable team, and partner with Finance, Product, and Engineering to ensure accurate financials and timely reporting to leadership, lenders, and the board.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of accounting experience including leadership roles in high-growth environments.
• Controllers/Assistant Controller/Director of Accounting ownership of close and GL.
• Experience building or rebuilding internal controls with documentation and evidence standards.
• Experience managing external audits and delivering clean opinions.
• Led and developed accounting teams including hiring and performance management.
• Memorandums on revenue recognition and other judgement-heavy areas.
• ERP/close-management stack implementation or optimization (e.g., Workday, FloQast).
• Experience in a fast-moving company that scaled accounting infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and buildout of Tapcheck's internal control environment and documentation standards.
• Lead the external audit end to end: scoping, PBC, positions, and issue resolution.
• Close the books: monthly, quarterly, and annual close, with accurate reporting.
• Own the accounting systems roadmap across Workday Financials, FloQast, and related tools.
• Manage technical accounting positions and tax compliance; ensure covenant reporting is accurate.
• Partner with FP&A and cross-functional teams to translate actuals to plans.
