Job summary

DLA Piper seeks an Associate to join its Litigation group, Product Liability, Mass Torts & Class Actions subgroup, working on class action defense matters. Preference for New York metro area candidates; open to other US offices; JD required and Admitted to practice in applicable jurisdiction.

The role emphasizes strong writing, rigorous research, and multi-matter docket management, with opportunities for client interaction and high-level court involvement, and a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• JD required
• Bar admission in the jurisdiction you are applying in
• Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience, preferably at an AmLaw 100 firm

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy.
• Draft well-written, error-free briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
• Manage complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution, including trials, negotiations, settlements, closings, and other activities.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships with professionalism and timely updates.
• Collaborate with lawyers and professionals to develop innovative case strategies for favorable outcomes.
• Attend and participate in high-level legal activities including court hearings, depositions, and negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with legal standards and firm policies while staying updated on changes in law.
• Pursue ongoing training to enhance legal knowledge, technology, and leadership skills.
• Engage in firm citizenship and pro bono initiatives.
