Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an associate to join its Litigation group, Product Liability, Mass Torts & Class Actions subgroup, to work with its Class Actions practice. This position is open to any US office, with a preference for New York metropolitan based candidates.

The ideal candidate will have a JD, be admitted in the relevant jurisdiction, and have 4+ years of litigation experience, including class action defense and multi-matter docket management, with strong legal writing skills.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying.
• Minimum 4 years of litigation experience, preferably at an AmLaw 100 firm.
• Experience defending class actions including securities, data/privacy, or consumer litigation.
• Experience managing multi-matter dockets.
• Previous federal clerkship preferred.
• Strong persuasive legal writing skills.
• Experience running large-scale discovery.

Responsibilities

• Legal Research: conduct thorough and comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case/transaction preparation and strategy.
• Legal Writing: draft well-written, error-free, and reasoned legal documents, including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
• Case/Transaction Assistance and Management: assist/manage complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution including trials, negotiations, settlements, closings, and other activities.
• Internal/External Client Interaction: build, maintain, and cultivate strong client relationships and provide timely updates and advice.
• Collaboration: work with lawyers and professionals to develop innovative strategies for favorable outcomes.
• Attend, support, and participate in hearings, depositions, negotiations, trials, etc.
• Compliance: stay updated on changes in law and regulations; ensure rigorous compliance.
• Professional Development: pursue ongoing training to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Firm Citizenship: contribute to pro bono work and community initiatives.
