Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an associate to join its Litigation group, focusing on Product Liability, Mass Torts & Class Actions. The role is open to any US office with a preference for New York metropolitan-based candidates.

Required: JD, bar admission in the applying jurisdiction, and at least 4 years of litigation experience including class action defense. Strong writing and discovery management skills are essential, with preferred federal clerkship experience.

Qualifications

• JD required and bar admission in the jurisdiction you are applying.
• Minimum 4 years of litigation experience, preferably at an AmLaw 100 firm.
• Experience with class action defense, including securities, data/privacy, or consumer litigation.
• Experience managing multi-matter dockets.
• Federal clerkship is preferred.
• Strong persuasive legal writing skills.
• Experience running large-scale discovery of matters.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough and comprehensive legal research to support case/transaction preparation and strategy.
• Draft well-written, error-free legal documents including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
• Assist/manage a variety of complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution including trials, negotiations, settlements, and closings.
• Build and cultivate strong internal and external client relationships with timely updates and professional communication.
• Collaborate with other lawyers and professionals to develop innovative case strategies for favorable outcomes.
• Attend, support, and participate in court hearings, depositions, negotiations, and trials.
• Ensure rigorous compliance with legal standards and evolving precedents.
• Proactively pursue ongoing training to enhance legal knowledge and leadership skills.
• Engage in firm citizenship and pro bono activities supporting underserved communities.
