Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance in the United States is seeking a Claims Specialist to manage an assigned caseload from investigation through resolution. You will decide liability and compensability, evaluate losses, and negotiate settlements while engaging with claimants, policyholders, attorneys and other third parties.

This hybrid role requires a BS/BA or equivalent and at least 2 years in claims. Licenses, ongoing CE, and certifications such as AEI, IIA or CPCU are preferred.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in claims adjustment.
• Licenses required for relevant jurisdictions.
• Certifications preferred (AEI, IIA, CPCU).

Responsibilities

• Manages an inventory of claims to evaluate compensability/liability.
• Establishes action plan based on case facts, protocols, and resources.
• Plans and conducts investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages.
• Assesses policy coverage for submitted claims and notifies the insured of issues; determines and establishes reserve requirements, adjusting reserves as necessary.
• Assesses actual damages and negotiates settlements within approved authority.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Experience with bodily injury and commercial claims required.
