Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an Underwriting Analyst (UA) to support Underwriters for Regional and National Accounts, handling pre-sales, renewals, plan changes, and reporting. You will interpret contracts to develop manual rates and ensure data integrity across census, pricing, and renewal processes.

This hybrid role requires 3 days in office (Hartford, CT; Alpharetta, GA; or Lake Mary, FL) and 3+ years in employee benefits with strong Excel/Office skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ work experience; employee benefits experience a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office; Excel formulas, v-lookup, pivot tables; PowerPoint knowledge preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated curiosity and initiative to expand technical expertise and consultative capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supports Underwriters for Regional and National Accounts in pre-sales, renewals, plan changes and reporting.
• Reviews RFP submissions and census for completeness; requests missing information.
• Interprets contracts to create ratings and develop manual rates; notes discrepancies.
• Maintains target accuracy (97% target and 93% minimum) for delivering ratings by due date; ensures data integrity.
• Populates Renewal Notes Template and summarizes renewal information for Underwriter.
