Job summary

Excelsior University is seeking an Associate Director of Student Accounting to lead the student accounting office, overseeing receivables and collections and ensuring accurate processing of student accounts. The role reports to the Bursar and directs staff, develops policies, and ensures compliance with regulations.

This is a full-time hybrid position requiring two days at the Albany home office and remaining days remote.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university.
• 3 years of higher education experience or 1 year of supervisory experience within a finance position.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and student accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop student accounting staff; oversee receivables and collections.
• Implement collection strategies to ensure timely payments.
• Provide customer service to students and families on billing and payments.
• Develop and maintain policies for student accounting and collections.
• Communicate policies clearly to students and staff.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, state and federal regulations.
• Prepare reports on account statuses and collection metrics.
• Identify process improvements to enhance financial controls.
• Collaborate with admissions, registrar, and financial aid.
