Job summary

JLL is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our account team managing a large real estate portfolio with properties in Seattle and surrounding areas. The role oversees monthly close, reporting, budget and reforecasting, cash management and spend compliance, reporting to the senior finance manager, and partnering with leadership on client objectives.

The position can be hybrid out of Seattle, WA, San Jose, CA, San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY, or Arlington, VA, and requires a

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• 5-10 years of relevant accounting experience required with 2-3 years in a controller or supervisory role strongly preferred.
• Property management or other real estate experience preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving ability.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting systems with preference for property management software such as MRI and Yardi.

Responsibilities

• Manage the period financial close activities to ensure completeness and accuracy of GAAP reporting.
• Understand client accounting requirements and ensure they are met by property and finance staff.
• Review leases for proper GAAP lease accounting.
• Maintain GAAP controls in line with policy.
• Lead biannual client budget cycles and reforecast processes.
• Supervise cash management procedures.
• Drive AP cycle and timely payment while ensuring policy compliance.
• Support property teams with questions and coordination.
• Become SME on client contract requirements and MSAs.
• Oversee annual PO launches and ongoing PO management.
• Contribute to quarterly business reviews with the client and provide financial analysis.
• Manage finance staff workload and development plans.
• Oversee data collection for quarterly KPIs including Opex and Capex accuracy.
• Facilitate ad hoc reporting and projects as needed.
• Manage AR objectives and monitor delinquency.
