Job summary

JLL is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the monthly close process, reporting, budget and reforecasting for a large Seattle portfolio. The role sits on-site with the Seattle campus and partners closely with the client leadership team.

The candidate will manage cash, AP, and contract compliance, while supervising finance staff and ensuring GAAP adherence across MSAs. Real estate experience and ERP proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• 5-10 years of accounting experience, with 2-3 years in a controller or supervisory role.
• Property management or real estate experience preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving ability.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting systems with MRI and Yardi experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the period financial close activities to ensure completeness and accuracy of GAAP financial reporting.
• Gain complete understanding of client accounting requirements, communicate them to property teams and finance staff.
• Review leases for proper GAAP lease accounting and client policies.
• Maintain accounting controls within GAAP, JLL policies, and client policies.
• Provide leadership for biannual client budget cycles and periodic reforecast processes.
• Supervise cash management procedures.
• Drive the AP cycle and ensure spend complies with client policies prior to disbursement.
• Coordinate procedures with property teams and respond to accounting questions.
• Maintain knowledge of MSAs and client contract requirements.
• Oversee annual PO launches and manage POs throughout the year.
• Contribute to quarterly business reviews and provide financial commentary.
• Manage performance and development of assigned finance staff.
• Oversee KPI data compilation for quarterly reporting, including Opex/Capex.
• Support ad hoc reporting and other projects as required.
• Oversee AR objectives and resolve >30 days past due.
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.
