Job summary

JLL is seeking an Assistant Controller to join the account team responsible for a large real estate portfolio. The role will oversee monthly close, reporting, budgeting, reforecasting, cash management, and spend compliance, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager.

The position supports onsite and hybrid work options across multiple cities including Arlington, VA. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years in accounting, CPA preferred, and strong Excel and ERP system experience (MRI/Yardi).

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• 5–10 years of accounting experience; 2–3 years in a controller or supervisory role.
• Property management or real estate experience preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving ability.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting systems; MRI/Yardi preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the period financial close activities to ensure GAAP reporting deliverables.
• Understand client accounting requirements and communicate to property teams and finance staff.
• Review leases for proper lease accounting in accordance with GAAP and client policies.
• Maintain accounting controls within GAAP, JLL policies, and client policies.
• Lead biannual client budget cycles and periodic reforecast processes.
• Supervise cash management procedures.
• Drive the AP cycle and timely payment of invoices with policy adherence.
• Coordinate procedures with property teams and respond to client questions.
• Oversee launch of annual POs for recurring services and manage POs.
