Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an Assistant Project Civil Engineer to join our expanding Engineering team. The role focuses on energy project site civil design, erosion control, stormwater management, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling across the U.S.

The position is full-time with benefits and offers hybrid or remote work arrangements, open to several SWCA offices. Candidates should have 3 years of civil engineering experience and an EIT designation, with PE reciprocity preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering and EIT certification.
• 3 years of civil engineering experience in site design, erosion & sediment control, stormwater, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
• Professional Engineer license or reciprocity eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical tasks, schedules, and deliverables across projects. Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Design stormwater management and erosion control measures per regulatory standards.
• Analyze utility crossings and environmental impacts, optimizing crossing solutions.
• Prepare construction drawings, specs, and contract documents for implementation.
• Support permitting with regulatory documentation for SWPPPs and erosion control measures.
• Assist hydrologic/hydraulic modeling to support stormwater design and drainage scenarios.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering and environmental concepts.
• Provide on-site coordination and monitor progress to ensure conformance with specs.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to communicate goals and progress.
• Mentor junior staff and promote knowledge sharing.
