Job summary

Koniag IT Systems, a Koniag Government Services company, seeks an AI Integration Engineer to deploy, configure, and optimize AI platforms in an enterprise IT environment in Washington, DC. The role is hybrid, requiring one onsite day and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, software engineering, data science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of experience in systems integration, software development, API engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 1+ years hands-on experience deploying, configuring, or integrating AI platforms or large language models within an enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing and consuming REST APIs and building integrations between enterprise systems using APIs, SDKs, webhooks, or middleware.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or Google) and its native AI/integration service offerings.
• Experience with Perplexity AI, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI Service, or equivalent enterprise LLM platforms.
• Familiarity with retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) architectures and vector databases.
• Experience supporting federal government IT environments and FedRAMP‑authorized AI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement technical integrations between AI platforms (Perplexity AI and other LLM tools) and existing enterprise systems using REST APIs, SDKs, webhooks, and middleware.
• Configure and deploy Perplexity AI and related AI platform environments, including API connectivity and authentication.
• Develop and maintain integration pipelines and data flows connecting AI tools with SharePoint, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, and other apps.
• Implement RAG architectures, including vector databases, embedding workflows, and AI search integrations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate AI use cases into scalable, maintainable integration solutions.
• Support AI-powered self-service capabilities like intelligent search, virtual assistants, and workflow automations.
• Conduct functional, performance, and output quality testing before production release.
• Monitor AI integrations for performance and reliability; resolve issues and optimize solutions.
• Work with cybersecurity/compliance teams to ensure FedRAMP and data handling policies are met.
• Maintain technical documentation: architecture diagrams, API guides, data flows, and runbooks.
• Support evaluation and PoC of emerging AI tools and platforms; provide technical assessments.
• Participate in Agile sprints and backlog planning related to AI integration initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance to team members on AI capability and integration best practices.
• Stay current with AI tech landscape and enterprise deployment methodologies.
