Job summary

North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) invites applications for an Accounting Technician (S). This permanent, 12-month position may follow a hybrid work schedule after training, supporting accounts payable and vendor activities.

Responsibilities include reviewing invoices, processing payments, reconciling vendor statements, and completing annual escheats and 1099 tasks. Minimum education is a high school diploma with accounting experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three years of accounting experience.
• Understanding of government accounting methods and procedures.
• Ability to prepare financial statements and reports.

Responsibilities

• Review invoices for accuracy, terms, and purchase orders; resolve discrepancies.
• Verify receipt of items and research documentation for invoices.
• Process payments via Accounts Payable system with proper coding.
• Disburse payments and reconcile vendor statements for timeliness.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monthly closing tasks.
