Job summary

NCSSM in North Carolina is seeking an Accounting Technician (S) to manage accounts payable and related financial duties within the Business Office. The position supports a hybrid work schedule following initial training and offers a solid, stable government accounting environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and accounting experience, with knowledge of state financial systems and strong attention to detail for accurate processing and reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency and three years of accounting experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
• Knowledge of government accounting methods and NCFS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review incoming invoices for accuracy, vendor terms, and PO/Requisition details.
• Process invoices for payment in the automated Accounts Payable system (NCFS) and verify funds.
• Disburse checks and reconcile vendor statements monthly.
• Review 1099 forms and assist with travel reimbursements and budget analyses.
• Prepare accounting codes, attach documentation, and post journal entries.
