Job summary

Thunder Bay Community Health Service, Inc. seeks a Hybrid Access Specialist/Medical Support Staff to join our Hillman, MI clinic. This role blends front-desk patient access duties with hands-on clinical support, offering variety and teamwork in a community-focused setting.

You will split time between welcoming patients, scheduling, and insurance tasks, and assisting clinicians with examinations, specimen collection, and EMR documentation, while ensuring patient safety and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or LPN program.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of a medium-duty position.
• Site-to-site travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with friendly, professional service.
• Manage multi-line phone calls and help patients navigate care.
• Schedule appointments and handle reminders/confirmations.
• Triage urgent concerns within scope of practice.
• Verify insurance, update patient info, and assist with forms.
• Collect co-pays and process payments; balance daily receipts.
• Assist with TBCHS services enrollment and resources.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and EMR documentation.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist with procedures.
• Administer medications, injections, and vaccines as directed.
