Job summary

Towson University is seeking an Academic Program Specialist in the Psychology Department to coordinate the daily administration of five graduate programs, supporting about 200 students and 30-40 faculty. The role involves budget oversight, program communications, and a range of operational tasks within Academic Affairs.

Responsibilities include recruitment, registration, orientation, progression of students, and planning events. Telework may be available after 90 days; evenings may be required.

Qualifications

• One year of administrative staff experience.
• Knowledge of office practices and procedures; ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, Internet, email, and calendaring.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks.
• Education: 30 college credits may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Screens and responds to inquiries by phone, in person, or in writing.
• Manages budgets, records financial transactions, and prepares financial statements.
• Coordinates administrative processes for recruitment, registration, orientation, and progression of students.
• Maintains records and deadlines for forms and documentation.
• Plans lectures, conferences, seminars, and events.
• Prepares marketing materials and coordinates printing.
• Liaises regarding payroll, benefits, reimbursements, and other administrative matters.
