Job summary

New York Life is seeking an Integrated Absence Manager in Pittsburgh, PA. You will manage a caseload of STD, PFML, FMLA, CPL, and ADA cases, coordinating with customers, healthcare providers, and clients to ensure accurate absence administration and timely payments.

You’ll review eligibility, gather medical information, and communicate decisions in writing and verbally, supporting return-to-work needs and ensuring compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience administering Disability strongly preferred.
• Experience administering FMLA and/or State Leaves strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications is required (Word, Outlook, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of Absence cases including STD, PFML, FMLA, CPL, and ADA.
• Verify eligibility, capture medical information, apply contractual provisions, and follow legal guidelines.
• Evaluate information to make claim and leave determinations within compliance guidelines; pay all covered claims accurately and timely.
• Coordinate multiple leave and disability plans using integrated technology.
• Support ongoing claim management including extensions and reviewing of additional information as needed.
• Communicate with claimants, employers, and medical professionals to gather information on absence applications, payments, and management.
• Document absence notes in the system based on medical information and conversations.
• Facilitate return-to-work discussions with clients and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors.
