Job summary

Air Comfort, Inc. in Ashburn, VA seeks an HVAC Technician III to lead installation, maintenance, and operation of advanced mechanical systems in a data center environment.

As the lead technician, you will mentor junior staff, ensure reliability and safety of critical HVAC equipment, and coordinate with other teams to meet contractual commitments. Willingness to travel up to 50% is required in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class.
• Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
• Proficient in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
• Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete any required client background checks or training.
• Ability to travel up to 50% (expenses covered).
• EPA Universal Certification preferred.
• VA Journeyman HVAC license preferred.
• OSHA Certification preferred.
• Valid Virginia or Maryland driver’s license required.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance preferred.

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of HVAC air distribution systems.
• Maintain, upgrade, and back up Building Automation Software as required.
• Monitor compliance with contractual commitments and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
• Provide guidance, leadership, and technical support to junior technicians.
• Supervise and teach technicians of lower grade levels.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service requests as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support facility operations.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

• Lead and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal and screw package chillers, natural gas boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and water pumps.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of HVAC air distribution systems, including air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), fans, and related devices.
• Maintain, upgrade, and back up Building Automation Software as required.
• Monitor compliance with contractual commitments and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
• Provide guidance, leadership, and technical support to junior technicians, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
• Supervise and teach technicians of lower grade levels, supporting their professional growth.
