Job summary

The City of Fort Collins is seeking a Technician II, Energy Services (HVAC) to maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across roughly 100 City buildings. You will plan maintenance, perform diagnostics, and coordinate with outside contractors to keep systems efficient and compliant with climate goals.

Qualified candidates have 3–5 years in commercial HVAC, EPA refrigerant certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a commercial HVAC environment.
• EPA certification to handle refrigerants is required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• First Aid/CPR certification is required.
• CJIS certification or ability to obtain CJIS certification.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment across City buildings.
• Educate customers on energy usage and perform diagnostic testing.
• Create and enter data on detailed work orders.
• Calibrate controls and retrofit components in equipment.
• Operates and maintains service vehicle; may oversee temporary staff and contractors.
• Interpret engineering drawings and equipment manuals; monitor building automation systems.
