Job summary

Aggreko seeks a Technician 2 - Power/HVAC based in Chicago (Lemont), IL. You will perform maintenance and repairs on power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution, HVAC, and oil-free air equipment, at the Lemont service center and on customer sites.

You will troubleshoot issues, work solo or with teammates, and may travel. The role requires a high school diploma, 7+ years in related tech fields, and a valid driver's license; a TWIC/DOT card may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 7+ years of experience with power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment.
• Experience reading schematics and calculating nominal/effective tonnage or kW requirements.

Responsibilities

• Based out of Lemont, IL service center; overtime and weekend work possible.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution, HVAC, and oil-free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at shop and on customer sites and perform repairs.
• Work solo or with other technicians to set up and operate equipment at shop or customer sites.
• Attend safety trainings and maintain tools in safe working condition.

What you’ll do:

• You’ll be based out of our Lemont, IL. service center.
• You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and there is a potential for travel.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations and handle the repairs.
• You will either be out on your own or teamed up with other technician(s) to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites.

You are:

• High School diploma/GED.
• 7+ years of experience working on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics.
• Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other essential job requirements

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts.
• Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices.
• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level.
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders.
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs.), push/pull (80 lbs.), carry (60 lbs.), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs.), stoop, kneel and squat.
