Job summary

Aggreko is seeking a Technician 1 - HVAC based in Chicago (Lemont), IL. You will service HVAC and electrical distribution equipment, travel locally, and support field operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• 2–5 years of experience with electrical distribution and HVAC equipment.
• Ability to read schematics and calculate nominal/actual tonnage or kW.
• May need TWIC card or valid DOT medical card; valid driver’s license.
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of HVAC and electrical distribution equipment (chillers, AH, pumps, dehumidifiers, heaters, heat exchangers).
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at shop and on customer locations; perform repairs.
• Work solo or with others to set up and operate equipment at shop and on site.

What You’ll Do

• You’ll be based out of our Chicago (Lemont), IL service center and can expect to work in the field with local travel daily in your company vehicle
• You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and there is a potential for travel
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment. (chillers, AC’s, AH, pumps, dehumidifiers, Heater, Heat exchangers)
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations, and handle the repairs
• You will either be out on your own or teamed up with another technician(s) to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites

You Are

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
• 2- 5 years of experience working on electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment. (chillers, AC’s, AH, pumps, dehumidifiers, Heater, Heat exchangers)
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics
• Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other Essential Job Requirements

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts
• Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devicesMust be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs.), push/pull (80 lbs.), carry (60 lbs.), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs.), stoop, kneel and squat
