Job summary

The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is seeking a skilled HVAC technician to lead maintenance, repair, and alteration work on buildings and mechanical systems in a correctional environment. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting safety procedures, inspecting fire extinguishers and alarms, coordinating repairs, and training new staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and minimum of 3 years commercial HVAC experience.
• Universal refrigerant certification.
• Valid Driver License may be required for some positions in this classification.
• Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance on environmental systems.
• Replaces or cleans filters.
• Checks refrigerant levels and adds as needed.
• Installs and troubleshoots heating, air conditioning and refrigeration units.
• Provides technical assistance with the design and implementation of HVAC systems.
