Job summary

Trane Technologies, a world leader in climate solutions, is hiring a Service Estimator for the Rochester/Buffalo NY area. You will create quotes for service agreements, estimate costs, and develop detailed scopes with system sketches and vendor quotes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in engineering with 3–5 years’ related experience; or technical certificate with 5 years related experience; or HVAC Technician experience.
• Working knowledge of construction facets including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems.
• Experience with financial and business acumen and running projects on time and on budget.
• Willingness to work overtime/weekends; valid driver’s license for 12+ months with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Create quotes for service agreements and all quoted works in support of Service Account Managers.
• Estimate costs including materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other construction activities.
• Develop detailed scope based on design-build scope; create cost estimates with system sketches, scope definitions, exclusions, vendor quotes, and cost items.
• Take-off and price purchased equipment to ensure accurate quantities, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and risks; stay current with industry standards.
• Develop scope of work for sub-contractors; negotiate prices with vendors/sub-contractors.
• Hold pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.
