Job summary

Walmart Inc. in Auburn, AL is hiring a Technician in Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration to install and service HVAC/refrigeration systems, diagnose issues, and perform preventive maintenance across facilities.

You’ll lead teams, mentor apprentices, and coordinate with managers to ensure safe, compliant operations. Primary location is Auburn with multiple locations; the role involves on-call duties, driving a company vehicle, and adherence to EPA refrigerant handling rules.

Qualifications

• Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
• Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
• Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
• Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Responsibilities

• Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics.
• Configures and calibrates low ambient systems and direct digital controls to meet operational specifications.
• Interprets layout plans and schematics to ensure accurate system setup and compliance with building codes.
• Diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues across commercial and industrial systems.
• Implements preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtimes.
• Maintains and repairs rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units.
• Ensures proper operation of HVAC systems and Energy Management Systems by performing routine checks.
• Coordinates with managers for training and safety practices.
• Drives a company vehicle to complete service calls and manage operational needs within an assigned region.
• Participates in on-call rotation to support business needs outside standard hours.
