Job summary

Diamond Peak Recruiting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee HVAC, piping, and plumbing construction projects in the San Jose market, from preconstruction through closeout, with project values up to $20 million.

This role offers a base salary of $140,000–$180,000 plus bonus and benefits, with opportunities to lead complex commercial and mission-critical projects and mentor junior staff within a well-established contracting team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Mechanical Project Management experience.
• Experience managing HVAC, piping, and/or plumbing construction projects.
• Proven success managing projects up to $20 million.
• Strong understanding of mechanical construction processes and systems.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and contract management.
• Ability to lead project teams and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical construction projects from award through completion.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams.
• Review contracts, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals.
• Lead project meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
• Track project costs, change orders, procurement, and labor productivity.
• Work closely with Superintendents and field leadership to ensure successful project execution.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Mentor Assistant Project Managers and support team development.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a growing mechanical contracting team in the San Jose market. This role will oversee HVAC, piping, and plumbing construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, with project values ranging up to $20 million.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project leader who enjoys managing complex commercial and mission-critical projects while working with a well-established contractor known for delivering high-quality mechanical systems.
