Job summary

Trane Technologies in Arden Hills, MN is hiring a Preconstruction Estimator to develop turnkey HVAC contracting bids. You will work with internal teams and customers to craft scope, estimate materials, labor and equipment, and price subcontractor work.

You will analyze plans, review bid documents, and coordinate pre-bid activities with Account Managers to optimize costs and win projects while supporting procurement and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• Project management and HVACR industry related work experience required.
• Experience with construction estimating, project bidding, and/or procurement.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and HVAC operation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates including materials, subs, equipment and labor for bids.
• Develop detailed scope from design-build plans for competitive bids.
• Create cost estimates with sketches, quotes and vendor data.
• Collect project data to assemble scope and estimate.
• Analyze plans and specs to build accurate cost estimates.
• Price purchased equipment and manage quantity/configuration accuracy.
• Review bid docs and subcontractor proposals for conflicts.
• Host pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to align scope and strategy.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage risk with vendors.
• Support procurement and engineering to control costs post-bid.
