Job summary

Montgomery College seeks two full-time HVAC Mechanic II at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. Positions are on Tue-Sat shifts: 6:30am-3:00pm and 2:30pm-11:00pm.

Under supervision, incumbents perform skilled HVAC work including installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and retrofitting. Duties include maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, diagnosing issues, working with DDC/BAS controls, reading blueprints, and ensuring code compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; five years of heating/cooling/ventilation experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of DDC/HVAC systems and chiller operations.
• Knowledge of building systems: electrical, plumbing, energy systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and control diagrams.
• Familiarity with building and fire codes related to HVAC work.
• Good communication skills and ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and repair commercial HVAC systems and related subsystems.
• Diagnose air distribution, balancing, insulation and vapor deficiencies.
• Repair or retrofit DDC hardware and BAS interfaces.
• Adjust boilers, chillers and AHUs; monitor and optimize operating parameters.
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematic diagrams.
• Maintain records of work performed and equipment logs.
