Job summary

Montgomery College is seeking a full-time HVAC Mechanic II at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The role requires operating and maintaining HVAC systems, with a 6:30am-3:00pm Tue-Sat schedule, and involves diagnosing complex building systems.

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or GED, 5 years of HVAC experience, and Maryland Journeyman license with EPA 608 certification. CDL/driver's license is required; benefits include comprehensive plans and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Five years of experience in heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
• Equivalent education/training/experience may be considered.
• Comprehensive knowledge of DDC and HVAC systems and chiller operations.
• Knowledge of building systems, codes and safety procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints and control diagrams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based apps.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and repair commercial HVAC systems and controls.
• Diagnose air distribution, balancing and insulation deficiencies.
• Repair sensors, transmitters and control system components.
• Install or retrofit direct digital control systems (DDC).
• Adjust boilers, chillers and air handling units for optimum operation.
• Monitor project compliance with codes and contract terms.
• Maintain equipment operation logs and records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
