This position is at Pasquotank Correctional Institution in Elizabeth City/Pasquotank County. It involves performing journey-level duties related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning systems, refrigeration units, and associated control mechanisms. Responsibilities include identifying problems, determining necessary materials and tools, executing repairs independently, and supervising or training new mechanics as needed. The role also involves preventive maintenance, system installation, refrigerant charging, and electrical/pneumatic system troubleshooting. Weekend and holiday work may be required.
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with State Benefits.
Current state employees are encouraged to apply; salary will be recalculated based on qualifications and internal policies. The salary range as of January 1, 2025, is $37,782 - $66,120.
