HVAC Mechanic I - Alexander Correctional Institution

Position Overview

This full-time position at Alexander Correctional Institution in Alexander County, NC, involves performing journey-level work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning systems, air handling, chilled water distribution, and refrigeration units. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, determining repair methods, and executing repairs independently, with complex jobs reviewed by a supervisor. Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $37,782.00 - $66,120.00 annually. Eligible for a $7,000 sign-on bonus, subject to eligibility criteria. The salary is aligned with the state pay plan, effective January 1, 2025.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED plus three years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, or repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
