Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to maintain all air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems in City buildings. This includes completing repairs, performing preventative maintenance, system replacements, plumbing repairs, and interacting with City employees and citizens.

Responsibilities

1. Complete air conditioning repairs by troubleshooting problems; replacing motors, thermostats, adjusting controls, belts, contractors, relays, capacitors; adding refrigerant; resetting safety devices; and checking system operation.
2. Perform preventative maintenance by inspecting belts, listening for abnormal sounds, checking refrigerant levels, lubricating bearings, checking for oil deposits and leaks, inspecting relays and contactors, and replacing filters.
3. Replace air conditioning or heating systems by reclaiming and recycling refrigerant as per EPA regulations, removing old systems, and installing new systems.
4. Perform plumbing repairs such as unclogging sewer lines, toilets, sinks, and fixing leaks in faucets and pipes.
5. Purchase supplies by visiting supply houses for necessary parts and materials.
6. Complete daily reports and attend meetings, including daily updates with supervisors and documentation submission.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Knowledge of vocational, administrative, or technical training, typically obtained through six months to one year of advanced study beyond high school. Certifications may be awarded upon completion.
• Experience: Between two and four years of relevant work experience.
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid Class CFR 8.2 support F Driver's License, state license or exemption for A/C equipment and refrigerant purchases, and EPA certification.
