Position Purpose

This position is responsible for maintaining all air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems in City buildings. Responsibilities include completing repairs, performing preventative maintenance, system replacements, plumbing repairs, and engaging with staff and citizens.

Key Responsibilities

1. Air Conditioning Repairs: Troubleshoot problems, replace motors, thermostats, controls, belts, relays, capacitors, add freon, reset safety features, and check system operation.
2. Preventative Maintenance: Inspect belts, listen for abnormal sounds, check refrigerant levels, lubricate bearings, check for leaks, relays, contactors, and replace filters.
3. System Replacement: Reclaim and recycle refrigerant, remove old systems, and install new systems.
4. Plumbing Repairs: Unstop sewer lines, fix leaking faucets and pipes.
5. Procurement: Purchase supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
6. Reporting and Meetings: Complete daily reports, attend meetings, and document activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Vocational, technical, or administrative training, typically obtained after high school, with certification possible upon completion.
• Experience: 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
• Certifications: Valid Class CFR 8.2 support F Driver's License, state license or exemption for A/C equipment and refrigerant purchases, and EPA certification.
