Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman Mechanic to join our commercial service team. You will work on rooftop units, chillers, and other systems, delivering high‑quality service and solutions for commercial customers.

You will diagnose, repair, and optimize mechanical systems, travel regionally, and collaborate with apprentices to ensure top-tier service while prioritizing safety and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience.
• Universal EPA refrigerant certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency in mechanical alignment and vibration diagnostics.
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers and document service actions.
• Willingness to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices (UA).
• Self-motivated, safety-focused, and eager to learn.
• Ability to pass a technical proficiency exam.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and repairing commercial HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, compressors, pumps, fans, etc.).
• Performing maintenance and replacements on mechanical systems.
• Troubleshooting advanced systems including centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon components.
• Conducting mechanical shaft alignment and vibration analysis.
• Installing complete HVAC systems and supporting infrastructure.
• Providing expert recommendations and quotes for system upgrades and repairs.
• Collaborating with apprentices and other mechanics to share knowledge and ensure top‑tier service.
• Traveling 10–20% to support customer needs across the region.
• Prioritizing safety in every task.
