Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking an HVAC Chiller Mechanic Journeyman (Union) to support startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and aftermarket service for commercial HVAC equipment.

You will work directly with customers to diagnose facility inefficiencies and implement solutions that improve system performance. The role requires hands-on field work, safety focus, and a drive to deliver high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of practical experience on commercial/ducted HVAC systems.
• EPA refrigerants license and state/local licensing.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
• Member of or willing to join United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA)
• Willingness to enroll in training programs and travel 10–20%

Responsibilities

• Perform startup, commissioning, and aftermarket service on commercial HVAC systems.
• Work on air‑cooled and water‑cooled chillers, AHUs, and rooftop units.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC and mechanical issues including compressors and turbines.
• Document issues, causes, and corrective actions clearly.
• Collaborate with branch team to support customers.
• Provide solutions and outcomes during service and commissioning.
