Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC TB Journeymen Mechanic I to support light to heavy commercial heating and cooling systems. You will work with journeymen, servicemen, and apprentices to diagnose issues, perform maintenance, and provide trusted recommendations that improve facility performance.

You will apply troubleshooting skills across rooftop units, pumps, fans, boilers, chillers, and related plumbing systems, while prioritizing safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Membership in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (or willingness to join).
• EPA refrigerants license (universal) required.
• State or local licensing applicable.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Self-motivated with a desire to learn and apply new knowledge on the job.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% to support branch activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement on commercial HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve HVACR service issues in light/heavy commercial environments.
• Assist journeymen on repair of chillers and related equipment.
• Support commissioning and after-market service by identifying inefficiencies.
• Provide quotes and recommendations to improve system performance.
• Assist branch activities including troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
• Communicate problems, causes, and corrective actions clearly to customers and internal teams.
