Johnson Barrow is seeking an Inside Sales Engineer in Portland to support design, selection, and application of commercial HVAC systems. You will evaluate project specs, interpret drawings, and develop engineered equipment selections that meet performance and code requirements.

The role combines analytical design work with technical consultation for contractors, engineers, and building owners. It requires hands-on sizing, use of selection software, and collaboration with sales and project teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum three years in HVAC system design, equipment application, or technical mechanical sales.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and engineering selection software.
Ability to interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and construction documents.

Responsibilities

Analyze mechanical plans and project design conditions to select engineered HVAC equipment.
Evaluate load requirements to determine equipment configurations and sizing.
Apply HVAC design principles to assess performance, constructability, and codes.
Perform equipment sizing and application analysis with engineering tools.
Review submittals and technical docs for compliance with design intent.
Provide technical guidance to contractors, engineers, and owners on equipment application.
