Job summary

NC Quality Air in Wilmington, NC is seeking an HVAC Field Operations Manager to lead service and install teams, ensuring jobs are completed correctly and customer issues are resolved in the field.

This full-time role emphasizes leadership, on-site presence, and process improvement with opportunities to coach techs, review installations, and drive safety standards across the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on residential and light commercial HVAC service and install experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience training, mentoring or leading other techs (lead tech or crew lead is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of heat pumps, AC, gas furnaces, air handlers, ductwork, airflow and controls.
• Clear communication with techs, customers, vendors, inspectors and office staff.
• Comfortable with field service software and digital schedules.
• EPA Section 608 certification.
• Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily HVAC service and install operations, and match techs and crews to the right jobs.
• Hold short morning meetings on priorities, safety and job readiness.
• Coach techs through tough diagnostics, with ride-alongs and on-the-job training.
• Review sold jobs before install so crews show up prepared, with the right equipment and materials.
• Visit jobsites, audit installs and check commissioning: airflow, static, charge and controls.
• Handle escalated customer issues in the field and follow through until they’re resolved.
• Review callbacks to find the cause and keep them from happening again.
• Keep the warehouse, stock levels and material orders organized.
• Make sure permits, inspections, job notes and photos are complete for closeout.
• Reinforce safety and hold the team to company standards.

• Variable-speed, inverter, zoning and high-efficiency equipment experience
• Familiarity with Manual J, S and D
• Experience with inventory, purchasing, permits and inspections

SCHEDULE

Monday–Friday with early starts, occasional extended hours, and an after-hours escalation rotation. Expect a mix of jobsite, warehouse and office time.
